How to Print Children’s Colouring Pages at Home

Printable colouring pages are most useful when they are easy to prepare and comfortable for a child to use. You do not need specialist equipment: a home printer, ordinary paper and a few simple settings are enough for most Vagrant Learning activities.

Choose paper for the materials you have

Standard A4 or US Letter copy paper works well with crayons and coloured pencils. If your child prefers markers, use slightly heavier paper when available and place a spare sheet underneath to protect the table. Always test one page before printing a full set.

Use “Fit to Page”

Open the PDF in a trusted PDF reader and select the correct paper size. Choose “Fit,” “Fit to Page” or the closest equivalent so that the full artwork remains inside the printable area. Print one-sided unless the product instructions say otherwise. Black-and-white activity pages can normally be printed using the printer’s grayscale setting.

Print only the pages you need

You do not have to print the entire workbook at once. Select a small group of pages for quiet time, travel or a rainy afternoon. Keep the digital file safely so you can return to unused pages later, subject to the personal-use terms supplied with the product.

Prepare a simple workspace

Use a flat table with comfortable seating and good light. Offer a limited selection of crayons or pencils so the activity feels inviting rather than overwhelming. For cutting activities, use child-appropriate scissors and provide adult supervision.

Let the child make choices

Colour references can provide ideas, but they are not rules. Children can follow the example or invent their own colours. The aim is an enjoyable, manageable activity—not a perfectly matched page.
